
| Classes on Modern Paganism Taught by Godiva le Fey At Inner Wisdom in Galesburg, IL www.innerwisdombookstore.com Stepping onto the Path of the Mysteries: How to begin Saturday, March 13th from 1:00-3:00 PM Cost: $20.00 per person Many times people find it difficult to find local Pagan/Heathen community. Once found they then are often shy to attend open moons or other gatherings for the first time. Being new to a spiritual path can be a very overwhelming and confusing experience. The topics in this session are designed to encourage those who are new to Paganism/Heathenism to take that first step. To give those who are seeking community enough information so that they can feel comfortable and secure at open gatherings. Topics include: etiquette and manners, what it means to be an “earth based religion”, a brief overview of some of the many Pagan/Heathen traditions, Pagan Ethics, Elders and teachers, open gatherings, moons and events. We will also discuss how to ready oneself to make a bigger commitment of moving into a Coven, Kindred or another dedicated spiritual group as well as what such a step means. Wicca 101 Saturday, April 10th from 1:00-3:00 PM Cost: $20.00 per person While Wicca is not the only Pagan/Heathen tradition, it is often the first experience many people have with modern Paganism. There are many mis- conceptions surrounding the Wiccan Tradition. This course will focus on the basic beliefs and ethics of Wicca. Very basic Wicca: this course will introduce students to some of the religious language that helps to define Wicca as a religion. The course will also include a brief history of Wicca (Gardnerian, Alexandrian), the Wiccan Rede, the differences between British Traditional, American Traditional and Progressive Wicca. Wiccan expressions of the Divine, the concept of polarity as well as Esbats and Sabbats and the Wiccan worldview. Each student will begin a personal Book of Shadows (please bring a ring binder to start your BOS). Wicca 202 Saturday, May 8th from 1:00-2:00 PM Cost: $20.00 per person For those who are interested in exploring the Pagan tradition of Wicca in more depth, this class will help to support your exploration. Becoming a Wiccan Priest/Preistess This class will cover some basic elements a traditional Wiccan Esbat ritual, Sabbat ritual (both private and public) as well as self-dedication. We will set up and discuss a traditional Wiccan altar and discuss some of the difference between a traditional Gardnerian and Alexandrian altar and circle. We will also discuss how those who belong to the Progressive tradition approach the set up of an altar and the creation of sacred space. For the solitary practitioner, we will talk about how to adapt more traditional rituals for personal use. |
